Nadia Ameer, Australia.Name: Nadia Ameer
I have been a patient of Dr Prasanth and just completed my dental implants and major dental work together with my son who had crowns fillings ,extractions etc.
Having a medical background I was initially very sceptical and anxious as we hear and read about
the many overseas medical treatment going wrong .
When I first visited Dr Prasanth I observed the sterility and hygiene in his surgery that was of very high standards which also made me feel relieved.I was very anxious having treatment in a foreign country and talking to Dr Prasanth made me feel at ease. The treatment was not painful or nothing near to what I had expected.
Dr Prasanth and his wife also a dentist at the surgery are friendly, humble and very experienced in their field of work.
Dr Prasanth has a genuine passion for his field of work and this is evident in his excellent work, explanation and mannerism .I am really happy with my dental implants that look and feel natural. I would recommend Dr Prasanth to anyone looking into overseas dental tourism.
Beena Jose. Toronto, Canada.Name: Beena Jose
Nationality: Toronto, Canada.
My name is Beena Jose. I live in Toronto, Canada. My problem was that I was having bone loss in my jaw. As a result, my teeth were wiggling. I was told by my family dentist I was going to need dentures, this information disappointed me.
I went on online to research solutions for my problem and I found out that I could have dental implants. In the meantime, I watched a health video online ,and this was where I found who Dr.Prashanth. He was talking about dental implants and the procedures of correcting teeth.
Later on, my family and I went to India and I found Dr. Prashanth's contact information. I contacted him and he explained to me all the details about the implantation. We proceeded with the dental implantation and it was very successful. The doctor was very efficient and he had my best interest at heart. He wanted to make sure everything went well after the procedure was done.
The environment at the clinic didn't feel like I was in a hospital, It has a very comforting and supportive atmosphere and staff. Now I can eat, chew and drink without pain and I am very happy. I would like say thank you to all staff members for a loving experience.
Lenny NairName: Lenny Nair
My name is Lenny Nair and I am formerly from South Africa, immigrated to New Zealand and now living in Perth, Australia. From a young age, I have had dental work done in these various countries including fillings, root canal and crowns.
After assessing the deterioration of my teeth I decided to have dental implants done so that I could enjoy a better quality of life as I was now reaching the age of 50. I consulted with specialists in Australia and found them to be beyond my financial reach. I even considered having them done in South Africa on one of my regular visits as this would prove affordable but I soon found that they were lacking in some of the latest techniques of implantology.
This prompted me to look abroad to Asia and particularly in India as I’ve heard good reports of medical innovation coming from this country. My local dentist discouraged me from going overseas as there were many people going to Asian countries and getting conned or having shoddy work done by people who claimed to be professional.
Upon consulting with Dr Prasanth Pillai via email, I found him to be very thorough and professional in his requests and building confidence, I decided to visit Kerala and get my implants done by him. I have not been disappointed by his work and professionalism and am very satisfied with the outcome. I am currently recommending friends and locals to visit India on holiday as well as get their implants done affordably as this is the best option in the long term.
Margaret & Murray, New ZealandName: Margy Meys
Nationality: New Zealand
In March 2015 my partner Murray and I went to the Smile Centre for dental work as we found the cost in New Zealand was unaffordable.
The initial consultation was done via email and all my questions and concerns were answered promptly and thoroughly.
We found Dr Prasanth Pillai and his staff at the clinic to be great. They were very professional, friendly and helpful. Do bring a book to pass away to time in the waiting room.
I had 16 crowns and all the way through the procedure Dr Prasanth Pillai was very open to explaining what was going on and open to questions. I have very sensitive teeth and extra care was taken to look after me.
Upon returning to New Zealand there was an email already waiting for me from the Dr to see how my sensitivity was. It took three weeks for my sensitivity to settle down and during that time I was able to email the Dr as I concerned how long it was taking. He assured me that everything would settle down. HE WAS RIGHT !
YAHOO! I can eat what I like. It is so good to crunch into an apple again.
I have been recommending the Smile Centre to everyone and now my brother is going.
Many thanks to Dr Prasanth Pillai and his team.
Tee Chu Pew, Mark, MalaysiaName: Tee Chu Pew, Mark
Date of Birthday: 18 April 1939
My friend John, who noticed I had difficulity to chew my food, suggested that I should to consult Dr Prasanth Pillai at The Smile Centre, at Kochi, Kerala, India. Dr Prasanth is a specialist doing Basal implants. John was sure that Dr Prasanth will certainly fix me a new set of teeth by which I could chew my food properly and enjoy better quality of life. I had been suffering from dental decay, multiple missing teeth and chronic gum disease for many years. I was wearing upper and lower removable partial dentures after I got several teeth of mine extracted following unsuccessful dental procedures.
I took the suggestion of John seriously. I flew to India from Malaysia to meet Dr Prasanth. Dr Prasanth is a warm and gentle person. He accepted to take me up for the full dental implantation procedure for me after ensuring that I was medically fit to undergo the procedures.
I was at the dental chair almost everyday for a 3 weeks. Apprehensive? Yes! But for not for long. The steady and gentle hands of Dr Prasanth in treating me gave me the confidence that I would a new set of teeth soon. I got ten implants at the lower jaw and twelve implants at the upper jaw. These are the supports for the prostheses.
Now with these prostheses cemented I could chew and eat well. No more worry of the of dental decay and cleaning the dentures. I look younger with the new set of teeth.
I am glad that I took the decision to see Dr Prasanth and I am thankful to Dr Prasanth and his team who had done an excellent and highly professional work on me.
Thank you Dr Prasanth Pillai and team.
Premchandran Kumar, Dubai, U.A.EI am back in Dubai after my dental treatment and have already resumed duty. My acquaintances are finding me highly confident in my speaking, laughing and eating. They where curious to know how I achieved it. I ended up explaining in detail about my dental journey of two years… about the miserable state in which I was… about the full mouth rehabilitation treatment I have undergone and the end result which they could see for themselves. Later on I decided to pen my experiences down and mail it to you so that you could share it with your apprehensive patients… how they would have their lives changed for the better.
Two years ago, I had a “bombed out dentition” (that was the phrase you used after examining me with the Xrays). I had with wobbly teeth, bleeding gums and mobile bridges. I could never smile, speak or chew confidently. Now, I’m able to have the food I wish to have… I’m smiling, speaking and chewing well with my full complement of implant supported fixed teeth. I explained to them how I underwent full mouth rehabilitation with basal implants and to obtain the great set of teeth I have now.
I started losing my natural teeth from my school days and the same story kept repeating all the time. The problems commenced with with dental decay for which dental treatment was undertaken in the standard sequence of dental filling, followed by a root canalling, crowning and within a few years, the tooth went for extraction! At the age of thirty, I came to a state where I had four crowned teeth to take care of the eight missing teeth. For almost ten years, I managed to pull on without major dental issues. However, by the age of 58, I was left with 7 mobile teeth with two bridges fitted onto them. I started worrying because I knew that the mobile pillars along with the bridges would come off any moment. It was at this stage that I started consulting my friends and most of them advised me to go for removable dentures… more so because I was already 58 years old. But the problem was I had to wait for about four months to get the dentures as there was the need for healing of the extraction wounds of all the 7 survivors which had to be removed in one shot. I contacted many dentists with a request to advance this period but my request was turned down mercilessly.
I was getting impatient as I knew the worst was going to happen any moment. I started browsing the internet to find solutions and that was when I came to know on the option of dental implants and their advantages. I started contacting dentists who were specialized in dental implants in Dubai. I started consulting them one by one and all of them advised me against undergoing dental implant procedures. The reasons they cited were that I was a chain smoker and a chronic diabetic. My blood pressure and cholesterol levels were also above normal limits. In addition, Xray examination had revealed that I did not have sufficient bone left inside my jaws to fix the implants. If I had to get implants done, I’ll need bone grafting procedures which again was fraught with failure due to my smoking habit and diabetic status.
Their quotes, if I were to get the implants done, were also pretty high. I got terribly frustrated.
It was at this time that I found you on the internet and contacted you for advise. You requested me for my OPG Xray and I got it done in Dubai and emailed to you. We started discussing online about the possible solutions in my case. I was given details of the latest developments in dental implants. You gave me a very positive outlook by reassuring me that implant supported bridges will most certainly work in my case… in spite of all the negative factors highlighted by other doctors. You explained to me about the procedures in detail and took time to thoroughly answer all my questions with regard to treatment planning, time duration for treatment costs etc. etc.
My treatment started at TheSmileCentre.in, Kochi, with a complete medical checkup under supervision of an expert physician. Once I obtained the medical clearance for the dental implant surgery procedures, the OPG Xray was repeated. A detailed treatment plan was chalked out and discussed with me soon after which the implant surgery commenced. Under local anesthesia, in a quick surgical step, all the three remaining teeth I had in the lower jaw, along with the denture was removed and implants were placed soon after the removal. Impressions were made for the temporary denture in acrylic which was fixed on the implants by afternoon on the same day. Believe me, I walked out of the clinic smiling better than I did in the morning while reporting for the treatment. I must admit when I came in for my initial evaluation the procedure I felt that the procedures would be quite painful. But, to my pleasant surprise, I did not experience much pain during and after the implant surgery procedures.
My upper jaw treatment commenced the very next day. I had difficulties in eating and hence had to live on milk, juices and biscuits for almost a week. Initially my body was not accepting the medications you had prescribed me… I had developed nausea and gastric irritation. You altered the medications and I was fine soon.
I returned to Dubai after two weeks. During the next one year, I had minor problems with my temporary dentures due to wrong biting habits which I had over years. I managed to get the problems fixed with by doctor friends in Dubai.
After one year of placing the implants my upper permanent prosthesis was fixed. The lower prosthesis was completed after two years. During this waiting period when I had my metal-acrylic interim prosthesis, my biting patterns stabilized and improved considerably. Prior to the treatment I used to avoid eating out due to my wrong bite and chewing styles. I used to talk with my mouth partially closed. I used to smile without showing my teeth. But now, I’m able to smile, laugh, speak and chew well… as much as all other people with natural teeth are able to. I can now eat and talk without my slippery and painful dentures moving around in my mouth. I am delighted with the result and have started to enjoy life much more.
I just wanted to thank you and TheSmileCentre.in family for the outstanding care you provided me during my dental implant procedures. Everyone was nice and accommodating. Thank you again for resolving my dental issues. I would highly recommend such procedures in dental patients who are having constant trouble with their teeth and gums. These procedures will turn out to be a blessing for people who are uncomfortable with removable dentures.
Last, but not the least, JJ INN, the place where you recommended for my accommodation for all my three visits was something very special. Hospitality is their line of business, but this set up stands out. They took extreme care of me and ensured I was provided the best quality food. I am sure that my stay at Kochi on my next visit will be at JJ INN only.

At 54 yrs old I found myself with a complete lack of bite beyond the front. After many extractions things were getting worse as the remaining front teeth were starting to suffer under the load and eating some foods was becoming an issue.
Now living in Australia I decided it was time to act and get implants. I was shocked at the massive cost and extended time scale to do the work so decided to look further afield. Over the years I have had dental work done in several countries including India so no country was discounted. A lot of research lead me to discover immediate loading basal implants, these would be fantastic if I could find a suitable dentist. This proved the hardest part, not many Dentists seemed to offer immediate loading implants and those that did where either expensive or did not instil the confidence that would be required for such a big undertaking.
Finally I hit upon the Smile Centre website and Dr Pillai whom I contacted as soon as practical. I received a swift e-mail response from Dr Pillai, a time was arranged and I was soon talking to Dr Pillai over Skype, face to face discussing my problems and the options available. An OPG x-ray was forwarded to Dr Pillai who was then able to offer a treatment plan and a quote for me to consider. Due to my work commitments, it would be a while before I could get a few weeks off to get to India however Dr Pillai assured he would be able to complete everything within a week. We agreed a date and all was booked.
Once at the surgery in Cochin everything was discussed again in a reassuring, informative and leisurely manner. More 3D x-rays done then treatment started. At the end of day one I had the lower left and right implants completed. After more consultations having benefit of 3D X-rays it was agreed additional work to that already planned would be beneficial in the long run for the left upper area. Day 2 and the left upper implants were complete. A total of 10 implants, 4 extractions and one crown cap removed. Day 3 and the lower Teeth prosthetics were ready to fit, the right was fine the left needed more adjustment at the lab. By 13.30 on day 4 all teeth were fitted adjusted and complete. I am sure some might consider this all a bit full on and would like a more leisurely pace. It does however demonstrate that its possible to get implants in a short space of time as Dr Pillai promised. There were times of minor discomfort but no more than having a filling done with anaesthetic. All the slightly uncomfortable bits were done and dusted in the first two days.
The Surgery has nice private area available for waiting between treatments, My wife was with me and was able to access wi-fi and read in comfort. She was also included in all the consultations regarding the work being done. All of the staff were friendly caring and attentive, offering refreshments whist we waited.
Dr Pillai instils immediate confidence and obvious pride in his work. At every step we were kept completely informed and up to date on progress. I cannot recommend the whole Smile Centre experience highly enough. The whole object of the exercise was to get my bite back and as promised this was achieved in a short period, I am delighted with the result and the overall experience.
Even with such a short period in Cochin we still had time for a few sightseeing trips to the local sights and managed a ½ day trip into the backwaters.
Now back home and after a couple of weeks for things to settle down I am again able to eat whatever I want with absolute confidence.

I am a 50 year old housewife who lost her first tooth at the age of 29. By 45, I had lost about 10-15 of my teeth. I used to experience pain and bleeding of gums while brushing. My dentist told me that my condition was hereditary and severe. Back then, immediate loading implants weren’t heard of and the dentists suggested methods like grafting and sinus lifts which sounded extremely complicated. I was reluctant to go for these options and suffered silently for years until i chanced across Dr. Prasanth Pillai’s article in the newspaper about the Swiss Implantologist Dr. Stefan Ihde’s innovative method of Immediate loading Basal implants which were supposedly simple and painless. This was quite a surprise since the treatment duration was only a few weeks at the most and there was no bone grafting, sinus lifts etc. involved.
Now after getting implants on both my jaws I can assure anyone that it is worth it. I am able to enjoy my life more than ever. I can have food of my choice and more importantly I can chew the food I eat, smile confidently, don’t have to be shy in public, not bother about my dentures falling off and a lot of other benefits!
In my opinion, Dr. Prasanth and his team did an excellent work and were really helpful and responsible throughout the entire procedure. I am forever indebted to Dr. Prasanth and his co-workers and would guarantee anyone in need of dental implants that Smile Center is the best place to go.
Please feel free to contact me in case of any kind of clarifications you may need to make.

Dear Dr. Prasanth Pillai
I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the superior care and excellent work I received while I was undergoing dental implant treatment and surgery with you. I especially appreciate the straight forward way in which you communicated the details of the implant process. You and your staff treated me with sincere care throughout the process. I wish you, your wife, your children and your staff a happy Christmas and prosperous New Year 2014. My experience is detailed below.
I am originally from Kerala, India, 57 years old and live in USA since 1985. I was having dental problems for the past 10 years. I had severe bone loss, resulting gum inflammation and pain. I received a 6 teeth bridge in the front lower jaw 8 years ago. But all the remaining teeth were getting loose and painful and I could not chew or eat any hard food. My dentist told me that I had gum infections which will affect my health adversely and that the only options I had were to get removable dentures or implant supported fixed teeth as soon as possible.
I went to a reputed implant center in USA. They recommended full mouth implants. They said I needed bone grafting and sinus lifts before doing the implants. I have to wait 4 to 6 months after extraction and surgery to get the implants. It was very expensive also. So I researched the internet for a better option. I found a good place in India which was less expensive. But the procedure was the same. I was still apprehensive about bone grafting and sinus lifts and waiting months for the implants.
That was when I came across “The Smile Centre”. I realized Smile Centre had everything I wished for. I read the testimonials of other people who received treatment there. I emailed Dr. Prasanth my details. I forwarded my X Rays to him and discussed with him about my problems over Skype several times. He assured me that I can get basal implants with immediate fixation of teeth (immediate loading) without any kind of bone grafting or sinus lifts. I didn’t have to wait months with discomfort before getting the my fixed teeth! He explained the details of the process and the associated costs. I forwarded the details he gave me to my niece who is a dentist and she also agreed that this is the best option I could go for.
Dr. Prasanth also gave me information on places close to the clinic where I could stay safely and comfortably. Dr. Prasanth always replies to emails promptly within hours.
I went to Cochin on the 14th and finally met up with Dr. Prasanth. Since I had infection, he gave me antibiotics. He performed extractions and implantation of the lower jaw on the 16th under local anesthesia. I was very surprised that it was not painful at all. He did the same for upper jaw on the 18th. A few times I was sent to get specialized X Rays and Mr. Karthik, the clinic PRO, accompanied me each time. I had a open bite problem by which the lower and upper teeth did not make contact in the front. When the implant procedures were completed and the teeth fixed, this problem was also solved. It took a few weeks for my mouth to adjust to this. Now my teeth looks great.
I went to the clinic every day to for checkup and minor adjustments. Sometimes I had to wait in the balcony upstairs for a few hours between procedures. It was nice there and there was WiFi connection available. My mother had accompanied me to the clinic on these days and the staff took good care of her.
For about 2 weeks, we stayed comfortably at JJ Inn which was recommended by Dr. Prasanth. I could get to the clinic from there in less than10 minutes by auto-rickshaw and 20 minutes by walk. On October 26th I went to my ancestral home in Kerala with my mother. For the next two weeks on certain days I took the train to Kochi to see Dr. Prasanth, for bite adjustments. It was easy since the clinc is close to the railway station. The last day I visited the clinic was Nov 8th. Thus my full mouth implant supported fixed teeth procedures was completed within three weeks without any problems. I am completely satisfied with the treatment that I underwent at The Smile Centre.
I returned to USA on Nov 14th. Now it is one month after the treatment procedures and I feel very good about it. I can eat almost anything and I no longer have gum pain or bad breath. My mouth feels fresh all the time. I will be going back after one year to get the permanent ceramic crowns. I am very thankful to Dr. Prasanth Pillai, Dr. Sreeja Pillai and all the staff. Unlike dental centers in USA they give personal care and attention to you.
I will recommend “The Smile Centre” and Dr.Prasanth Pillai to any one who is in need of dental implants without any hesitation. “The Smile Centre” and Dr. Prasanth are the best. People who wish to contact me directly for more information on my experiences are welcome to do so via email. My email id: email@example.com .

Our experience “At The Smile Centre Kochin”.
I have no words to thank Dr. Prashant Pillai, his wife and his staff at the clinic.
My journey to Cochin began on the 27th of October 2013. I found Dr. Prashant on the website n felt more confident after speaking to him on Skype.
I am 71 years old n my wife is 68 years but both of us, with the exception of our dental problem enjoyed good health without any complications. I had a bridge on my lower jaw which stood on one tooth and the upper jaw I had 5 teeth which all shaking, with the result I could not eat my food properly nor could I brush my teeth, and would not dare to smile. This agony persisted for two years. Even my personal dentist in Dubai gave up on me and said either you wear dentures or if you want to smile permanently go for implants.
I then decided to go to Cochin and get this job done through Dr. Prashant Pillai.
I entered his clinic at The Smile Centre on the 28th of October and left for Dubai on 7th November. Within these 10 days Dr. Prashant implanted 22 titanium basal implants, 12 on the upper jaw and 10 on the lower jaw. I did not feel a thing as it was done by local anesthesia and my wife had 4 implants on her lower jaw. On completion I realized I should have done this 2 years back as life is too short to enjoy these few years we have left in comfort. We can now smile confidently, brush our teeth without fear, eat what we like and lead a normal life.
I would sincerely like to thank Dr. Prashant for making this possible for us. We look forward to seeing him next year for a general check-up.
I strongly recommend anyone with a serious dental problem to The Smile Centre Cochin and Dr. Prashant Pallai will solve all your problems. If you want to know more about the centre please go to their website or contact us on P. O. Box 77840, Dubai – U.A.E. Tel. 0097143469105, Mob. 00971504542135.
A Poem In Appreciation For The Smile Centre, Kochi
How important are your teeth to you,
Is realised by a very few
Until you cannot brush, eat or smile
Even for just a little while
You then start looking for that day
Asking yourself this question
Will I be able to brush, eat and smile someday?
Yes I promise you this with confidence
Cause I’ve been through it all one day
Dr. Prashant and his Smile Centre has in abundance
Smiles that could come your way.

In September 2013 I received complex dental treatment by Doctor Prasanth Pillai at Smile Centre in Kochi, India, consisting of a complete restoration of molar region including 8 implants, 17 crowns, as well as a few extractions and root canal therapies, and it is my pleasure to provide a review of this amazing and highly professional work.
Before I discovered Dr Pillai’s work at the Smile Centre in Kochi, my teeth had suffered for many years because of the old amalgam fillings and although I was only 31 years old, I was already missing 4 teeth in molar region and the rest needed crowns and implants. I had spent about six months researching various treatment options, looking at different dental clinics and communicating with dentists from all over the world including Central America, Europe, Australia, India and Thailand. Since I required such an extensive treatment, many regarded my case as untreatable or quoted about AUD$25 000 and 1-2 years as the overall treatment time. Traditional implants required many treatment steps lasting up to 2 years and were consisting of many unnecessary procedures such as bone graft or sinus lift. They also required to wait about 3 months after fresh extractions before placing the implants and only enabled loading them with crowns after 6-9 months of healing.
I came across with the concept of basal implantology which not only enabled placing the implants immediately after extractions and loading them with crowns almost immediately, and also avoided other invasive surgical procedures. While most of the dentists who were familiar with this new approach in implantology said I’m not the right candidate for the immediate implants, Dr. Pillai reassured me there’s no problem with applying them in my case. My communication with Dr Pillai started about 5 months prior to my arrival and we gradually exchanged about 50 emails regarding all details of the treatment. He always responded within a few hours and clarified any doubts I had. I myself work as a Natural Medicine practitioner and have to say that basal implantology not only saves a patient a lot of time, money, pain and surgical procedures, but anatomically and functionally makes much more sense than traditional implants.
The price quoted for the whole treatment was very reasonable since in the western countries it would normally only cover about 6 crowns. I decided to travel to Kochi with my partner in September 2013 for 4 weeks. We stayed in comfortable 2-bedroom apartmentin Mercy Villa from where it took us 20 minutes to walk to the clinic. My decision to undergo such a complex restoration of all my back teeth in India was still causing a few doubts. However from the first moment we arrived to the clinic the staff and Dr. Pillai have treated us as a family and ensured we feel there as comfortable as possible. He has 2 kids and a beautiful wife who is also a dentist working at the clinic and helped prepare my teeth for the final crowns. We were at the clinic almost every day for 4 weeks and since the treatment also required many hours of waiting in between procedures, they dedicated for us the whole room upstairs with WIFI access for resting and work.
All procedures went without any complications and to my huge surprise placing the implants was the least problematic of all of them. Having experienced many dentists from Europe as well as Australia, the most astonishing part of the treatment was to experience the kindness and the level of professional skills of all the staff at the Smile Centre. We’d also never had any doubts about hygiene or cleanness of the clinic.
I took a risk by insisting on placing the permanent zirconia crowns on the 2 weeks old implants placed soon after extractions (usual approach is to place temporary crowns for about 6-12 months) and although there is a slight chance that I will have to replace them in the future with new crowns because of the natural gum changes after all the procedures, I don’t regret my decision. The clinic has an access to one of the biggest and the most modern world-class labs in Asia and can offer you the most beautiful work of restorative dentistry using most of the materials available today. I was also able to fully use all my new teeth after about a week. It’s been 3 months since the operations and I haven’t had any issues with the implants whatsoever.
My visit of the Smile Centre in Kochi not only restored my dental health and other emotional aspects associated with any long-term dental problems. I discovered the professional dental clinic practicing the revolutionary basal implantology, with very nice staff and an access to a world class lab. Last but not least we got to know Dr. Pillai and his wife, one of the kindest, most knowledgeable and deeply spiritual people we’ve met so far, with an inspirationally positive approach to work and life in general who we are proud to be friends with.

I have just recently returned from Kochi to Australia after having received dental implantology treatment from Dr Pillai. I am now sporting a very confident, natural looking smile, which I am more than pleased about and continues to receive compliments from family, friends and work associates.
I am more than happy to be able to write this testimonial. Firstly, as a way of publicly thanking Prasanth for all that he has done for me, but also as it allows me the opportunity to possibly assist fellow Australians, who, like me months ago, are gleaning through international websites in a quest to find the best destination for major dental treatment.
I see my excursion to Kochi, which I call my dental project, as a huge success. The project itself, from initial contact to my return home, took only six weeks which included getting and forwarding an OPG x-ray and obtaining my Indian Visa.
Contact was exactly as described on the web site – email of OPG x-ray, Skype conversation to talk through a dental plan and comparable case studies, followed by a quote for services within hours.
Accommodation was not an issue, with plenty to be had nearby. I chose to stay, with the assistance of Prasanth, at an Inn which was modest, yet very clean and comfortable, and within walking distance (which I did a few times) from the surgery.
The level of attention I received, both personally and as a patient, could not have been better. Prasanth has gathered together a team of dental specialists and technicians to ensure that patients get the very best of care through every stage of the treatment plan. The Surgery has a very warm working environment and I found myself fitting in very easily.
When it comes to the financial aspect of the project, I know I got great value, both in terms of cost and quality of service. Even after consideration of travel and accommodation expenses, I am confident I could not have done any better, certainly not in Australia, but also not in other Asian destinations more commonly sought out by Australians.
It was not all work. There was plenty of time for tourism and shopping which was too much to list here. Prasanth, being very proud of his country and culture, was always putting options in front of me to ensure I received a broad taste of India before returning home.
I stated earlier that I saw my dental project as a huge success. I wish I could take more credit, but in reality I only had to get myself to India and that first 10.30am appointment. After that all the systems, professional network and work place culture that Prasanth has put in place took care of the rest.
Of course, there is a business element to all of this, as well there should be, but right from the outset I found myself dealing with a competent, caring professional, looking to form a partnership to see my project through.
I have no hesitation in recommending Dr Prasanth Pillai to anyone in need of his dental services.
Alison Smith, Australia
Thank you for your support and caring while I was at your clinic.
It was great to have assistance when I arrived to get myself orientated and I will never forget my first bike ride! I appreciated the explanations of my options and treatment.
I found the dental challenges at times confronting and, at the same time, every effort was made to ease my concerns.
It is wise for all parties to consider the language and differences in cultural practices as patience and time for clarification helps things run smoothly. eg Knowing when it is lunch break and protocols for asking questions etc
I was impressed with the time taken to do some relaxing, social things together and options to travel or see Kochi when I was free.
Although we fitted in a lot of work, overall I was extremely pleased to be able to get the work done, in amiable surrounds at a price I could afford.
Well done by all of us!, Alison S
Antony Kavalam. Zurich, SwitzerlandOn the outset I wish to extend my sincere appreciation and thanks for the excellent dental implant work you have done on my upper jaw on 2. August 2013 at your clinic. My 9 dental implants with 2 crowns feel just like my regular teeth and I cannot tell the difference. I would also like to thank you for the hospitality extended to me by yourself, and your fellow dentists. Meantime I wish to share my heartfelt thanks to Dr. Harshakumar, who recommended me to consult your clinic for the latest basal implants with immediate loading instead of conventional implants which would have required several months of treatment for the same. Just a note to thank you again for my great, and now authentic smile. No longer do I slip my dentures out to make sure the tomato or raspberry seeds won’t injure me. No longer do I have to put up with the pain of the uncovered lingual nerves every time I eat something that dislodges the ever mobile lower plate. Instead, I smile and laugh and sing without any worry that the congregants in the front row of the church might become the fielders for my ejected denture… and I am now becoming quite adept with my toothbrush cleaning solidly mounted teeth held in place by 24 custom fitted basal implants. No pain, no embarrassment and a bite that even cuts through lettuce. Roseanne is doubly thankful. I can kiss her again with a fully shaped and firm mouth! Thank you, Prasanth, for everything. God Bless you, your family & your team. – Lawrence

It is with sincere appreciation and profound joy that I am writing to thank you for the excellent dental implant work that you performed on me. My 3 dental implants feel just like my regular teeth and I cannot tell the difference. I live in the United States, and when I was informed by my American dentist that I needed implants, I started researching about them. After hearing about the high costs of implants in the U.S., I decided to expand my research abroad. I spoke to several relatives and was given the name of the Smile Centre. After reviewing your website and reading about your experience performing implants, I decided to email you for further details.
Through the course of our emails, I was able to realize how knowledgeable you were about dental implants and how you put patient safety as your top priority. I wanted some more assurance before I decided to have implants, so I read your testimonials from real patients and contacted one of your patients, Mr. Menon. After speaking to him and hearing his excellent recommendation, I decided to have the implant work done.
A few weeks later when I arrived in India, I went to your clinic for the initial consultation. I was very impressed by your modern facilities and the diligence you provided in making sure I was completely comfortable and had all my questions answered before you performed any work.
The work performed was well done along with the cost being very reasonable. You and your team were very helpful. I want to thank you once again for the excellent work that you did on my teeth and wanted to let you know that I will recommend you to all of my friends and relatives that need any sort of complex dental work.
Please feel free to give out my email address, email@example.com, to anyone wanting further information.

What made you choose India and how did you hear about The Smile Centre.in?
I had to be treated at a hospital while on a cycle tour of India in 2011, and was very impressed with the level of care that I received. So when I needed implants to improve my awful mouth, and found it was going to cost far more than I could afford in Canada, I researched for Indian alternatives on the internet. I was most impressed by Dr Pillai’s credentials and the implant technology he was using.
After you contacted Dr. Prasanth, what finally convinced you to come down to Kerala for your treatment?
I sent xrays and photo’s to Dr Pillai and he gave me a rough estimate of cost and time. I was even more impressed, so I decided it was worth whatever risk was involved.
And once you came down, what was your experience from when you arrived?
The experience was fantastic from the start. First, a full physical checkup at a hospital to ensure I had no underlying problems. On the first morning I had four overgrown teeth extracted, immediately replaced by four implants followed by a temporary bridge. This took
1 1/2 hrs and I felt no pain. I also ate dinner that evening with no problems.
Subsequent treatments gave me a further 12 implants and reworked my whole mouth, and all this took place over only10 days. Incredible!
I returned in 2012, after my mouth had stabilised, and had my final bridges fitted over two weeks. Again the care, attention to detail, and hygene were at a level way beyond anything I have experienced in England or Canada.
Has it been more of a holiday than a time for treatment? What were the highlights of your stay here?
Treatment was first and foremost, but Kerala is a beautiful and exotic place and I managed to go kayaking on the famous backwaters plus a number of bike rides (laterly on Dr Pillai’s bicycle which he lent me). Also, I went to some cultural events which were wonderful. During the total of 11 weeks I have now spent in India I have come to love the country and its people.
Has it been value for money?
Again the word seems to be incredible. If I count in my total costs it would have been about seven times more expensive in Canada. Then add in superior techniques, no bone grafts or sinus lifts, and much faster treatment.
Would you recommend TheSmileCentre.in to others?
Absolutely and unreservedly.
How would you evaluate the dental treatment facilities in Canada in comparison with what you experienced in India?
I believe that Canadian dentistry is stuck in the past. They use old technology and don’t want to change because they make a very high standard of living doing what they do. After all, if you can do four extractions and four implants plus a bridge in 1 1/2 hours you can’t very well charge $20,000 for it!
Anything you want to add / suggest / commend / critique?
I can only say that I can’t imagine getting better care or better dentistry than I recieved, certainly for what it cost me. I now have a full set of splendid teeth for the first time since I was in my early twenties. I can eat anything I want and food now tastes great again.
My heartfelt thanks for everything you have done for me Prasanth and Sreeja.
Vijayan K. Menon, USA
I was born and brought up in Kerala, India. I came to United states in 1961 age of 21. Now I am a United states citizen and a permanent resident of Hayward, California, USA. Professionally speaking, I am a Aeronautical Engineer and worked for United Airlines Engineering department in San Francisco, California till 2002 and retired there after.
From my early days I was confronted with severe dental problems. Many of my upper and lower teeth were extracted and fitted with dental partial. Lately my upper canine was found very mobile, associated with abscess. Further dental X’ray vividly revealed that both upper two remaining permanent teeth must be removed. I started looking for a suitable dental clinic in Hayward, California and in Kerala, India to do implants.
I looked into many dental clinics here in California. One thing immediately brought to my attention is that Implants are very expensive and few Doctors are doing implants locally. Implants are not covered by any dental Insurance because it is categorized as a cosmetic surgery.
My second choice was Kerala, India. My birth place. But I had heard some horrific stories about unsafe conditions, inexperienced doctors and lack of modern equipment and so on. So I decided to go to Kerala (in 2009) and talk to several dentists person to person and take a look at their facilities. My youngest brother who is a Doctor in General Medicine referred me to Dr. Prasanth Pillai, Oro-Maxillofacial Surgeon & Implantologist , Owner and founder of The Smile Centre. In… and I went ahead with treatment under him.
I am very impressed with his new Kadavanthra, Kochi facility with all modern equipments, excellent sanitary conditions, cleanness, most courteous and experienced staff. The cost for implants are more affordable. He gave special discounts for foreigners. This remarkably well known clinic is located in the center of the city and a quite business neighbourhood of Ernakulam. Easy access from International Airport and freeways. It is very easy to locate for myself being a foreigner.
In 2009, since I was not sure about his dental work, I decided to do a single implant in lower jaw. Then I returned to states. Two years later I realized he is a good implantologist and most experienced Doctor in Kerala, India. After two years of email communications I decided to do get complete implants done on my upper jaw on August 2012 so that I could quit wearing dentures and get fixed teeth.
Periodontic and endodontic specialist evaluation had been done to assess conservative treatment options for the existing teeth, under the guidance of Dr. Pillai. However, conservative options were ruled out due to the severity in bone loss. The requirement for extractions of the teeth and replacement with the help of implant supported prosthesis was confirmed. We completed the entire process within a matter of 2 weeks in Aug. 2012 (immediate loading of implants, as Dr. Pillai put it… has a great advantage that the prosthesis is fixed within 3 days period after implantation, very much unlike conventional implants which require a minimum waiting period of 3 months)
Now I am back in California. I have no problem with implants what so ever. I am extremely happy with Dr. Ptasanth’s work and professionalism. If any one of you reading this article or plan for future implants I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Prasanth Pillai. If you want any further information please contact me on my email address. Vijayankmenon@gmail.com
I could not emphasize more that It is very important to do implants specially in a foreign country with whom you can trust and most experienced. You can count on Dr.Prasanth Pillai 100%. There is no doubt in my mind.

Rod Murray, AustraliaCan I firstly thank you for extending to me an excellence in dental treatment in a time frame unheard of in Australia. Congratulations that you have established a surgery in Kochi with world’s best practice facilities and on the high level of professionalism from your team – both staff and consultants. In fact I was quite amazed at how you can call for an attending specialist with less than 24 hours notice, something that would be weeks where I come from.
I would also like to thank you for the hospitality afforded me by yourself, your wife and fellow dentist, Dr. Shreeda and Kartich, your “Logistics Assistant” for helping out with those unforeseen needs not normally associated with being a dental patient but as a Dental Tourism patient these things can be difficult without local knowledge and help.
Can I also use this opportunity to pass on my experiences as a recommendation for your clinic and for undertaking a Dental Holiday.
I came to Dr. Prasanth’s clinic on a recommendation and I would say to those considering joining the dental tourism wave but who are a little reticent because of the naysayers warnings of hygiene and third world surgery conditions that the first thing to do is leave all preconceptions behind. If you walk to the clinic for your first appointment as I did or throw yourself into the experience travelling by auto-rickshaw, you find yourself travelling along a two lane road that Indian drivers somehow manage to make into a five lane road, where there are generally no footpaths, just a dusty road shoulder to walk along and the traffic passing by is in absolute chaos with horns beeping constantly. Buildings and homes are all crammed together and many are dilapidated and what western eyes would perceive as un-kept, – and yes, there is rubbish by the side of the road. At this stage you may be thinking “what have I got myself into?”
But when you arrive at the clinic it’s a modest single story building set back from the road and partially obscured by vegetation. When you enter the surgery you now see just how different things are in Kochi compared to the cities of a modern western society because what you find is a modern, up to date surgery fitted out with the latest European dental equipment and after meeting with Dr. Prasanth you realise you are under the care of highly qualified, experienced professionals.
And that’s how it is with both dental and medical facilities in Kochi, they’re located in places that are completely unexpected and almost a bit odd from our perspective but on the inside they’re just as well equipped as we are accustomed to and attended by qualified professionals.
It will also amaze you at just how quickly and efficiently they get things done. My first appointment with Dr. Prasanth was at 10:30am. By the end of the day I had had a preliminary examination, been taken off to a local private hospital for a general checkup, straight on to chest X-ray and blood pathology then OPG dental x-ray. All of this as a precautionary check before beginning the dental procedures.
Finally, you are also on a holiday and there is plenty of opportunity between appointments to get out on the streets and experience the challenge of life in a southern Indian city. I found it totally engrossing and I won’t pre-empt the experience other than with a tongue in cheek cautionary note. As a pedestrian you’re at the bottom of the pecking order. There’s the irony of the occasional pedestrian crossing where there is no way in the world that anyone is going to stop for you to cross and when you’re standing at an intersection with traffic lights, waiting for the green man – when he pops up that doesn’t mean you can step out onto the road, it just means you might have a 50% chance of finding a way across whereas when the red man is up, you have no chance.
And by the way, when you’re out walking and you come across that scrawny stray dog lying lifeless at the edge of the road with a cacophony of traffic whizzing by just half a metre from his nose? He’s not dead, – just sleeping.
Vivienne Hallack. London, UKDental treatment in the UK and USA is often carried out in clinics that look more like 5 star hotels these days and have a price tag to match. The hi-tech equipment and state of the art surgeries do not always guarantee expert treatment however. I decided to take advantage of my holiday to Kerala and get some overdue dental work done and save some money in the process. I went blind on an internet search – no personal recommendation and decided to pay a visit to Dr.Prasanth Pillai at The Smile Centre.
I certainly have no regrets and I would definitely recommend Dr. Pillai and I am sure I will get to visit again one day.Yes the clinic situation is different but the patient care, attention to detail and expertise is superior to most dentists I have visited (in UK, USA and Thailand!).
Once you have the trust you see beyond the different environment and I could not fault the treatment and service.
In addition to the expertise Dr. Pillai and his wife (they work as a team) provided they are extremely personable and made the visits an enjoyable sociable event – from discussions about his positive thinking website, they even provided an office for my niece to do her college work in whilst waiting for me en route to the airport.
I rate the service and treatment 5 star – and with the price of a crown replacement at £200 v £500 in the UK I used the money I saved to stay in a luxury 5 star hotel.

Thank you for the excellent work you did. The implant and the crowns are perfect. I have had no problems with bite or any other issues. You and your staff are truly professionals and I appreciated all the courtesy and care I received. I hope to see you again on my next visit from the USA to India. – Mike Buus, USA.
Wayne Green, New Zealand
It seemed a brave decision to travel to India to get implants. From the beginning it was a positive experience. Dr Prasanth and his team are welcoming and very competent I had a lot more work done than I had originally intended… more implants and many crowns and I could not be happier with the outcome. I look forward to going back to complete the job next year , very highly recommended. – Wayne Green, New Zealand.
Mathew Keecheril, USAThank you for your call the other day and also this wonderful greetings!!!!! In fact, for the past few weeks, almost every day I had been thinking of writing to you, but for my hectic schedule at work after my return, somehow it did not happen.
I am doing great now with the Implants and the Bridge. The mild discomfort and pain I had subsided after the initial couple of weeks. Now I feel absolutely fine. The bridge has come out so good that everybody feels it looks on me better than my original ones. My wife was saying the other day that if ever she has to get any dental procedures done, she would prefer to get it done at your place.
I need to appreciate you and your team there for doing such a wonderful job. It was worth making this visit to India. I was a bit apprehensive when I started from here, but when I came over and saw your facilities there and heard you explain me the procedures in detail, I was quite comfortable. Your professionalism, skill set, expertise, respect for time, no-compromise on the quality of work and so easy and friendly attitude had made all procedures a wonderful experience for me and it really showed up with the final results – My wonderful new look.
Also, need to mention that you have a wonderful team out there especially – Dr. Midhun, Dr. Madhu, Dr. Sreeja and the other staff who were assisting in the procedures and well as those managing the Reception Desk.
I, on behalf of my family, wish you, your family and your wonderful team there, Merry Christmas and an extremely happy and prosperous New year, 2011. Also, convey my love and regards to your Son and your sweet little daughter (She is shaping up to step into your shoes from now on…)
Good Luck with everything. Continue your great service. I once again thank you for the great job done with my dental procedures.
Best wishes and Regards
Anish Balakrishnan S, Cochin, IndiaI came to know about Dr.Prasanth Pillai from an article in Reader’s Digest. I was initially quite apprehensive of going to a dentist because of a traumatic experience I had during my childhood and from that day on they were to me nothing but purveyors of pain!
Even so, avoiding treatment on that account would have lead to more serious problems down the road. So, gathering all my courage and with the help of some healthy encouragement from some kind souls, I decided to pay Pramod clinic a visit, expecting nothing less than excruciating pain and screaming patients running around with the “Men in White” right behind them with the tools and the license to inflict pain! Legally!!! Can you believe that?!!!
But what I found was just the opposite! The clinic has a very relaxed atmosphere and there were no screaming patients! Imagine my surprise!
Thankfully, now I know I made the right decision. I told the doctor about my fear of dentists and he put me at ease and told me not to worry and that they would try and make the dental procedures as pain-free as possible. Looking back, I can say that he kept his promise! And my fear of dentists has been assuaged to a great extent – thanks to Dr.Prasanth and his team, esp. his wife and colleague, Dr.Sreeja, who was very considerate and explained every procedure in detail before going through with it and also patiently answered all the questions I had regarding the treatment.
To conclude, I would like to say, though the traditional wisdom which says – “Prevention is better than cure!” still holds true, if you are ever in need of dental treatment, due to whatever reason, you know you can count on Dr.Prasanth, Dr.Sreeja and the whole team at Pramod Clinic!
Wishing you good health, joy and peace.
Ever yours in the Lord,
Best wishes and Regards
Rachna Choudhury, Lucknow, IndiaI am very satisfied by excellent quality work done by Dr. Prasanth and his Clinic team on my teeth. All the junior Drs are also excellent in their work. Twelve of my teeth have been capped (crowned) in just three sittings but I have had no pain or discomfort. Dr. Prasanth and his wife are excellent doctors. He is promptly present whenever the appointment is given and has always finished the dental work well ahead of the scheduled dates.
Best wishes and Regards
Andrew & Judith McKinley, CanadaOur dental experience at this clinic surpassed all of our expectations. The staff were warm and friendly and put us at ease. Having a dental phobia, I was really frightened. Dr. Pillai explained each procedure very well and promised me a pain free treatment. True to his word my dental experience was pain free. I was very impressed with the attention to detail. For example, he had us have blood work done prior to any treatment and when a root canal was needed he called in an endodontist. He prescribed antibiotics and also gave me B complex vitimans to prevent a yeast infection. I had never heard of giving B Complex vitamins for this reason. Coming from Canada we were also worried about all equipment being properly sterilized. Everything in this clinic was spotless and met the highest standards. My husband, Andrew, is also very pleased with the entire experience and we both share the feeling of having been in the care of the most pleasant and caring professionals. It will be very easy to recommend Dr. Pillai and his clinic after having had such a positive experience.
My only regret is that we live on thousands of miles away so I will not be able to return for regular checkups.
I will definitely be promoting this clinic to any one I meet who needs extensive dental work .
Best wishes and Regards

Dominique Predali,Paris, FranceWhen you entrust your teeth to Dr Prasanth Pillai, you don’t get just one specialist to sort out your smile, but a whole team. And what a lovely team this is: Incredibly professional, efficient, attentive, reassuring, kind, warm and friendly! The work is simply superb and the atmosphere at the clinic is totally relaxed and incredibly friendly. My teeth were a major disaster area. Now, only half way through the reconstruction process, I can say that the work Dr Prasanth and his team have done is truly amazing.
Why do people go to India to have their teeth fixed? The answer is obvious: at a fraction of the prices charged by western dentists, they can have their dental treatment with the added bonus of visiting the country. Dental tourism is a great concept becoming more and more popular, much to the disgust of western dentists.
A number of disastrous and very costly courses of dental treatments left my teeth in ruins – my upper jaw was like Hiroshima, after the bomb of course, and my lower like Nagasaki. Urgent and massive restoration was desperately needed. Implants seemed to be the best option. I consulted a few dentists, included some who contributed to the existing mess. “No” was their unanimous answer. “At this stage, the only option is dentures.” And of course, these marvels were rather costly too.
Since none of these dentists were implantologists, I decided try my luck with well known specialists. Granted, they took a little longer to assess the situation but their reply was the same: “Mission impossible. Not enough bone there.” Determined not to take “no” for an answer, I turned to my beloved internet and started searching for implant specialists in India. Why India? Well Indian dentistry has an excellent reputation. After a lot of research, I found Dr Prasanth Pillai and his ISO Certificate clinic which is also a recognized center of Decare Dental, USA and of the Europ Assistance International Dental Network. I also liked the fact that the clinic has a hospital wing and that Dr Prasanth has created a facial and dental treatment charitable trust for the patients who cannot afford facial surgical procedures.
I emailed Dr Prasanth a recent OPG and asked him if implants would be at all possible. After many mails, questions, and MRI examination, he said “Yes, we can give you implants.” Needless to say that I was over the moon!
When I told one of the dentists that I was going to have my implants done abroad, he was horrified and strongly advised me against it. “Don’t do it. This is sheer madness. You are taking unnecessary risks. You know there is this terrible new bug in Delhi. I must warn you that you are bound to have problems and that you won’t find a dentist willing to treat you.”
But I did and I am so glad. Dr Prasanth and team welcomed me like a long lost friend. Despite the terrible problems he met, he managed to fit my implants. He also did much more than this. He took care of all the dental and non dental aspects of my stay in Kochi, such as finding nice accommodation for me near the clinic, sorting out an internet connection, introducing me to people to interview for research I had planned to do while having my teeth fixed. He also introduced me to his lovely family, invited me to his home and offered me his friendship.
My mouth rehab is not finished. I have to go back next year to finish the work. And do you know what? I can’t wait to go back. Not only to have my fabulous new cosmetically enhanced teeth but also to see my dear friends.
Best wishes and Regards
Manosh Chaudhury, Hyderabad, IndiaI wish to acknowledge, by this e mail and express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to you for the treatment I have received from you and your team at your esteemed dental clinic .
Firstly I wish to emphasize that the 2 implants with 4 crowns done on 6th October have settled down well without any problems, pain, discomfort whatsoever, after the procedure . Same has been the case for the subsequent 3 implants with 4 crowns procedure done on 27th November . I do not experience any problems even during the brief 1 hour taken for the procedures. I did not feel discomfort nor any trauma, reason being your sheer dedication with patience, kindness and gentleness whilst carrying out the process. In fact my wife and children – daughter and son who have had treatment under your good hands are also very pleased and satisfied with your work . I do recall how even at 3.30 pm not having had lunch you said you would not enjoy the meal unless you finished your job, well said like a true hard core professional . Kudos to you and your team. Once again many thanks dear Doc and all the very best to you in all your future ventures and procedures . Three cheers and keep the good work going.
Best wishes and Regards
